Update from the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre

What a difference a week makes! I had an article ready that talks about coping in the hot weather but someone seems to have turned off the sun. Welcome respite for some, I am sure.

Some people have started to ask when we plan to reopen. Whilst we are working behind the scenes to achieve this, we will remain closed for the foreseeable future. We are continuously monitoring the situation and learning from others. The safety of our members, volunteers and staff is our utmost priority and we do not feel we can open at this time.

In the meantime, we working hard to increase what we can offer remotely.

This week we are launching our second relaxation and mindfulness course. We know that anxiety levels are high at the moment and after the success of the first course, the next 6-week course will start next Tuesday on 9 June at 10.30. It is suitable for people new to Mindfulness and for those who attended the first course alike.

We are also thrilled to announce our Don’t Forget Your Feet class led by Henriette. This has been in the planning since the New Year and it will launch on Wednesday 24 June at 10am and will run for 8 weeks. It is aimed at improving the sensation, proprioception, flexibility and strength of your feet and ankles. Find out more on the website – including what proprioception means!

Don’t forget, Uddhava is still leading his Chair-based Yoga classes and we still have our online coffee mornings on Mondays.

Our online provision is provided over Zoom. New to Zoom? It is easy to use. Please visit this beginners guide if you haven’t used it before.

We haven’t forgotten our ‘non-internetters’. We are sending out extra information and continuing to support them over the telephone. If you have any (clean) jokes, poems or articles you would like to share, please forward them to us to include next time.

I would like to finish by thanking all our volunteers during this Volunteers’ Week. Our volunteers contribute around £150,000 worth of time each year to our charity but their contribution is truly priceless

Please stay safe and look after yourself.
