Reading Borough Council has asked us to share the following information:

Make sure you are registered with a GP
The best way to ensure you get offered the vaccine is to be registered with a local GP. When it is your turn, you will be invited to get a vaccine by your GP, so if you are not registered you could miss out. If you are not already, please register with a local GP on the NHS website here which will ensure when you are eligible you will be contacted to receive the COVID-19 vaccination. If you have friends or relatives who may not know this or how to go about it, please talk to them about it and help them.

For information on your local vaccination centre and the GP practices served by each centre, please check the NHS Berkshire West website for more detail.
How you will be contacted, and how to avoid vaccine fraud
When you’re invited to have your vaccination at a larger vaccination centre or at a pharmacy, you’ll get a letter. If you’re invited to have your vaccination at a local centre such as a GP surgery, you’ll usually get a text or email. You may sometimes get a letter. You can choose to go to a larger vaccination centre or pharmacy, or wait to be invited to go to a local NHS service. More places are opening all the time.
The COVID-19 vaccine is free of charge on the NHS and the NHS will never ask for;

  • Your bank account or card details
  • Your pin or banking password
  • Copies of a personal document to prove your identity such as your passport, driving licence or bills

NHS vaccination guide available in 18 languages
If you know someone for whom English isn’t their first language, or who you think might benefit from reading more about the vaccination in a different language, then there is a useful leaflet available in 18 languages. It explains how the vaccine will protect you, potential side effects, what to do if you’re unwell for your second appointment and lots more useful information. It is also available in large print.
