Stay warm and save some money this winter
The coldness of winter is now upon us. Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) is sharing its suggestions on ways you can save money on your bills as well as the following financial help you may be entitled to including:
Warm Homes Discount
You could get £140 off your electricity bill with the Warm Home Discount. Ask your energy supplier to see if you’re eligible.
Cold Weather Payment
If you receive certain benefits, and the average temperature in your area is zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days, you could get £25 for each seven-day period.
Check eligibility at www.gov.uk/cold-weather-payment/eligibility or at your pension centre or Jobcentre Plus.
Winter Fuel Payment
If you’re over 65 you could get between £100 and £300. For details call the Winter Fuel Payment Centre on 0800 731 0160 or visit www.gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment.
