Award-winning online Yoga sessions

Here at BMSTC, we offer online Yoga classes. But not any old Yoga classes. These are adapted for people with MS by our award-winning Yoga teacher Uddhava. We currently offer four classes a week including three chair-based classes and one that requires floor work. You are welcome to attend, even if you are taking part in physiotherapy sessions as well.

But why Yoga?

As one of our members told us

“What an inspiration during these difficult months. I have had MS for over 15 years now and am finding it increasingly challenging to stay mobile but during lockdown, Uddhava has provided the opportunity, via Zoom, to easily join in with his yoga classes and has even adapted some sessions to be chair-based. It has meant I have been able to continue with some exercise which is so important. It has also been especially helpful to be able to access the classes easily from my home in Maidenhead. I really look forward to the sessions which also gives the opportunity to connect with many others in a similar position. I am very grateful to Uddhava for his cheerful and tireless commitment to keeping us all moving.”

But what about the research? The MS Trust says

‘Yoga is a popular and safe activity for people with MS. As a form of exercise, yoga has comparable benefits to activities like pilates or swimming, in terms of improving balance, core strength and flexibility. However, with yoga, there are also elements of relaxation and mindfulness, which have been shown to improve stress and depression.’
