Double success from The Berkshire physical activity lockdown hero’ awards

Two awards for services at the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre

We are thrilled to announce we will be receiving two awards!

At the end of 2020, a local organisation, Get Berkshire Active, was looking for nominations for ‘The Berkshire physical activity lockdown hero‘ awards. We are thrilled to say that our Yoga teacher Uddhava has been awarded one for his online classes and the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre has been awarded another. If you will excuse the cliche, it is an honour just to be nominated and we are ecstatic we have won. Thank you to everyone who nominated Uddhava and our ourselves – Uddhava had over 20 nominations alone!

It is hard to believe that this time last year we had never considered online exercise classes. They have become very popular and many people have said how much better it suits them and we are exploring whether we can blend this with our face to face services after the pandemic.

We are overjoyed that our services are receiving this recognition. We want to thank Uddhava, our physiotherapy team and everyone who has embraced our new ways! Over the next few weeks, we will be focusing on different aspects of our work.

Have you got involved yet?

We have four Yoga classes a week, including chair-based sessions. You can find out more and sign up here:

Our physiotherapy team offers a whole range of classes across the week, including upper limb class and pilates. Everyone starts with a screening appointing with Mohammed or Ligia and you can request a session here:

If you are new to the Centre and have MS, you can get involved by contacting us by emailing or call us on 0118 901 6000. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Our classes are free for local people with MS (although all donations are very welcome!).

We want to say a big thank you Get Berkshire Active for recognising our work over the lockdown. We are disappointed we can’t come together to celebrate – but we will add it to the list for things to do when we can come together again.
