The benefits of Pilates
This week the MS Trust has been promoting the benefit of Pilates, something we completely agree with!
As the MS Trust says: ‘Now the weather is turning colder, you might be looking for a gentle, low-impact exercise that you can take part in indoors. Pilates is a great option for people with MS. It focuses on building core stability and muscle strength by performing a range of exercises in a gentle flow of movement.
The exercises are based on six fundamental principles: concentration, control, centering, flowing movement, precision and breathing.’
For more information and to find some helpful videos visit the MS Trust website here: https://www.mstrust.org.uk/a-z/pilates
We offer two online Pilates classes each week with our physiotherapist Ligia. Both classes involve floor work so you will need to be able to get on the floor (and up again!) to take part.
For people who already attend the Centre, contact Ligia at ligia@bmstc.org for more information.
New to the Centre? Please email ms@bmstc.org so we can arrange a chat introducing what we offer and how we work.
