Do you have secondary progressive MS? Do you want to help with research?
One of our members is taking part in the MS-STAT2 trial for people with secondary progressive MS at Southampton Hospital. Due to Covid, the trial has been extended and they are looking for more people to take part.
The trial is looking into whether Simvastatin can be effective at treating people with MS. Simvastatin is currently used to treat high cholesterol. The MS Society is co-funding this study to confirm if it can slow or stop disability progression for people with secondary progressive MS. If so, it has the potential to become one of the first disease-modifying therapies for people with secondary progressive MS.

This trial is organised by UCL and part-funded by the MS Society. We are unable to answer questions on this research but if you do take part we would love to hear all about it.
