Coronavirus update
It has been a week of promising news about vaccines. Of course, nothing is certain yet but there is potentially good news on the horizon.
Tiers
On Thursday the Government announced which tiers each area would go into when National Lockdown ends next week.
Locally Slough is in Tier 3 (the highest restrictions). You can find the restrictions here by clicking here.
The rest of the local area, including Surrey, Reading, Wokingham, Bracknell Forest, Windsor and Maidenhead, West Berkshire, Hampshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, are in Tier 2. You can find the restrictions by clicking here.
We are, of course, monitoring the situation carefully but at the moment there are no planned changes to our restarted face to face services.
Christmas Bubbles
This week the government has also announced ‘Christmas Bubbles) and has issued the following guidelines for Christmas mixing.
- Travel restrictions across the four administrations and between tiers will be lifted to provide a window for households to come together between the 23 and 27 December.
- Up to three households can form an exclusive ‘bubble’ to meet at home during this period. When a bubble is formed it is fixed, and must not be changed or extended further at any point.
- Each Christmas bubble can meet at home, at a place of worship or an outdoor public place, but existing, more restrictive rules on hospitality and meeting in other venues will be maintained throughout this period.
On Monday the Prime Minister said, ‘This is the season to be Jolly Careful!’ Despite the cheesiness of the statement (the fundraising team are kicking themselves for not getting there first!), we wholeheartedly support the sentiment. However, carefulness is for life, not just for Christmas.
