In 2016 NHS England published the General Practice Forward View, their vision for primary care, which included a commitment to .improve access for patients, including appointments at evenings and weekends. Refreshed guidance in February 2018, means that from 1 October 2018 patients will all have access to appointments from 8 am – 8 pm Monday to Friday and at weekends and bank holidays
