The UK MS Register is a ground-breaking study designed to increase our understanding of living with MS in the UK. They have sent out the following details of a research study with which you might like to be involved;
“We are excited to announce the start of an interesting research study led by Dr. Richard Nicholas from Imperial College London.
We are looking for family members of people with MS to take part
We know that MS is not inherited from parent to child, but MS can sometimes happen more than once in a family (see here for more information).
The team at Imperial are looking for volunteers above the age of 18 that are either parents, children, brothers, sisters, aunts or uncles of someone with MS. They would like to invite them to complete some online questionnaires and cognitive games, to see if they can spot any discrepancies which could give insight into the very early features of MS.
It would take them a total of approximately 1 hour, from the comfort of your own home, using a laptop, PC or tablet (not a smart phone).
If you or someone you know would like to take part, please opt into the study following the link below;
If the results of the online questionnaires or cognitive games come back as unusual compared with the general population, then the team will invite the family member to come in for some further tests (for example MRI and a blood test) at either Imperial’s NHS Hospital (Hammersmith) or King’s College London.
If you have any further questions please reach out to Alexandra Moura (am10523@ic.ac.uk) who is part of the Imperial research team.”
