Introducing our London Marathon team 2026 – part one!

March 25, 2026 | Pippa Vincent-Cooke

We have a team of five fantastic fundraisers who will be taking on the amazing challenge of running 26.2 miles on Sunday 26 April to raise funds for the Centre. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be introducing you to them all and sharing their reasons for running for the Centre. Today we’d like to introduce Simon;

Simon’s story

Hi, I’m Simon Rance and live in Greenham near Newbury. My partner, Rosie, was diagnosed with MS around 10 years ago and the Centre has been an invaluable resource for her in that time, and in recent years she has been able to give back to the team there in hosting some of the amazing “introduction to” sessions they organise in Reading for the newly diagnosed.

I’m a novice to running,  however this year I have been fortunate enough to get some time to put into trying my first Marathon and cannot think of a better cause than the team at the Centre. I am slowly getting there – I’ve been spending the spring plodding around the old airfield on Greenham Common near Newbury, as well as up and down the Kennet and Avon Canal, and it has turned out my last two weeks of training will be in the jungles of the Yucatan. I’ve not timed this particularly well, but bring it on!!

Good luck and thank you Simon, have a great race!
