This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. We know that living with MS can be difficult, both for those with the condition and their families. Here are some of the ways the Centre can support your mental wellbeing;
Counselling
We provide counselling for people with MS and their families and carers. Appointments are available online, in person and over the phone. Visit our counselling web page to find out more.
Relaxation and Meditation
Join our next six week online Introduction to Relaxation and Meditation class starting on Tuesday 27 May at 11.30 am and led by our Yoga teacher Uddhava. The class will cover a range of different relaxation and meditation techniques designed to help calm the mind and reduce stress so that you can find what works best for you. Visit our relaxation course web page to find out more.
Yoga
Yoga is an ancient discipline bringing together physical, mental and spiritual practices. It is designed to relax your mind and strengthen your body. We run four online classes a week for people with MS. Visit our yoga web page to find out more.
Complementary therapies
Many people find therapies such as massage, acupuncture, reiki and spinal reflexology help with mental wellbeing. Visit our complementary therapies web page to find out more.
Singing group
Our informal singing group runs on a Monday morning from 11.45am to 12.45pm at the Centre. Singing has many physical and mental health benefits. All are welcome, regardless of singing ability! Please email ros@bmstc.org if you are interested.
Join our community
The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Week is ‘community.’ For many of our members, simply chatting to other people who understand really helps with mental wellbeing. If you’ve yet to come to the Centre and join our welcoming, friendly community, please do get in touch via ms@bmstc.org or call us on 0118 901 6000. We look forward to meeting you.
