Friends that I hadn’t seen for a while weren’t aware of the difficulties I’d begun to experience due to my MS. When we did meet up they didn’t understand why I now used a crutch, and didn’t realise how much I struggled to walk at the end of a busy day. I’d missed out on so many events we all did together because of it, but this year vowed to try and meet them more often.
When they saw how I’d changed, and I explained how I was now struggling more and would tire far quicker they were very supportive and asked how they could help. They didn’t know how much my MS affected me day to day, but I was able to talk to them openly, and explain how I’ve had to adapt to the changes to my body.
Now they know how I struggle they keep an eye out for me. They help with little things through the day, meaning I don’t end up exhausted and tired so early. It would have been easy to simply stay at home without their help.
