New treatment at BMSTC for constipation

October 24, 2019 | Southmedia

A brand new service to help constipation with Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) is launching at the Centre

You may have heard of Functional Electrical Stimulation (FES) for drop foot but research shows FES may also be helpful for constipation.

Thanks to a grant from the Morrisons Foundation we will be trialling a new abdominal FES service at the Centre.

The initial trial will be for six weeks and will be carried out independently at home using a FES machine called a Microstem. It will involve placing electrodes on your tummy for 30 minutes twice a day.

Is constipation a problem for you? Would you like to try our service? If you are interested in finding out more please contact Henriette or call her on 0118 901 6000.
