Welfare support for people in Reading and Wokingham

Financial advice available for people in Reading and Wokingham

Last time we discussed accessing support with your finances especially in light of the cost of living increases.

We want to share two organisations that have come to our attention, one supporting those living in Reading and one supporting those living in Wokingham. If you know of organisations that can support people in other areas please let us know. (These organisations usually limit their geographical area due to how they are funded).

For Reading residents – Reading Community Welfare Rights Unit

They provide free, confidential and specialist advice to anyone in Reading concerning some welfare benefits. They also complete benefit forms, conduct benefits checks and “better off calculations”.

This week they tweeted:

Worried about the cost of living? On a low income? Have a health condition? Help is out there. Get in touch with us by emailing advisor@readingspecialist.co.uk and one of our caseworkers will be in touch.

Alternatively, you can phone them on 0118 995 1070 or visit their website by clicking here

For Wokingham residents – One Front Door at Citizen Advice Wokingham

Similarly, the One Front Service was promoted to us this week and said:

Do you need help and support? We are here to help you find a way forward.

We want to ensure that no-one feels left behind – no matter what you’re facing – our team are here to help you access the support available.

This could include our advice and information on welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment law amongst other areas, or helping you to access services from other charities and services in the Borough to meet your needs.

Call us on 0808 278 7958 Monday-Friday 9am-5pm.

Wokingham Borough includes Arborfield, Barkham, Charvil, Earley, Finchampstead, Hurst, Sonning, Remenham, Ruscombe, Shinfield, Twyford, Wargrave, Three Mile Cross, Winnersh, Spencers Wood and Woodley.
