This week is MS Awareness Week. Nationally the campaign theme is #MSUnfiltered and national MS charities have been sharing information and stories about MS symptoms that people may find embarrassing or difficult/sensitive to talk about.
In a recent survey 85% of people felt embarrassed by at least one of their MS symptoms and many of the community were hiding their symptoms from their partners. A third of people living with MS also avoided seeking medical help due to embarrassment. It’s time to shatter the stigma.
The MS Trust have produced a podcast called ‘Tackling Taboo Symptoms’, where MS Trust ambassadors, Trishna Bharadia, Dr Agne Straukiene and Richard Sprenger tackle taboo subjects like sexual dysfunction, bladder and bowel issues, drugs and opening up to your employer. Let us know if you take a listen and what you think of it!
