An update from our fundraising team
Firstly it would be wrong for us not to start by saying how much we are missing the Centre and everyone there. There is no question this is a bizarre time but just because we are apart, it doesn’t mean we are alone.
Fundraising over the last few months has changed beyond any recognition and we know this will continue for a long time to come. It has certainly caused sleepless nights among us and we will be reading the sleep article on Pip’s blog carefully.
We may not be in the Centre but we are still working hard to ensure our Centre can continue to support our MS community for as long as we are needed.
We would like to say thank you. Thank you to everyone who has supported us through donations, through fundraising, through votes for us, through using things like Give As You Live when you shop. There are many ways to support us, sometimes completely free, so please check our Ways To Support Us page for different ways you can help us at this time.
We have seen some really great innovation during this time – The 2.6 Challenge (which blew us away), the quizzes, the plant and veg sales, the mask sales, the running that continues. We can’t wait to see the Boars Bridge Festival online. If you have a fundraising plan or even just an idea, contact Yvonne at yvonne@bmstc.org. Yvonne has a head full of ideas and will be happy to help you.
Our biggest challenge at the moment is uncertainty. We don’t know what is coming and vitally we do not know what our income will be. If you are able to set up a regular donation to the Centre this will really help us and allow us to plan the best way forward.
Sadly some events have been cancelled, such as RideLondon, and other events including our theatre night, skydive and casino night have been postponed (dates tbc). Sadly these are not possible at this time – after all you can’t safely social distance from your skydive instructor. Collections, which many of you enjoy and support so brilliantly, are cancelled for the moment. We wish we had more answers at the moment and we appreciate your patience at this time. We will be in touch as soon as we know anything.
On a slightly different note: our AGM. This is our opportunity to celebrate the previous year. And boy, do we have a lot to celebrate in that regard. We finished last year in a really strong position and that is all thanks to you. At the moment there is a danger of this being overlooked as there is so much going on but not for us. We were very grateful for your support then, your support now and hopefully your support in the future.
Together we will get through this and happier days will come.
Sam, Yvonne, Kirsten and Tracy
