One of our members has told us about a Volunteer Driver Service that she recently used for a hospital visit and she thought the information could be of use to other BMSTC members.
Volunteer Driver Service has a team of around 200 volunteer drivers operating throughout Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire and surrounding counties.
They provide transport for:
• essential hospital appointments
• other medical appointments (e.g. GP, dentist, optician)
• visits to loved ones in care homes and hospices
• day centres
• supermarket trips
• visits to people in hospital
• classes that benefit health and wellbeing.
All their drivers are volunteers and give their time for free. Passengers pay a mileage fee to help cover the driver’s fuel and vehicle operating costs. There is also a small administration fee in addition to the mileage charge.
You can find out more by calling 0300 3030 125 or visit their website.
