Welcome to Sheyla

January 24, 2024 | Pippa Vincent-Cooke

We are really pleased to welcome our new intern Sheyla to the BMSTC team. She is a student at Reading University and will be working with us on Wednesday and Friday afternoons until the middle of April.

Her role will be to help us with surveys, case studies, reports etc. so we can showcase the impact of what we do here at the Centre. She’s looking forward to meeting as many of our members as possible and we know you will all make her very welcome.

We will let Sheyla introduce herself:

“My name is Sheyla and I am the new Marketing and Fundraising intern in the Centre.

I am currently in my second year of studying Biomedical Sciences in the University of Reading, where I learn about a variety of conditions, from their effect on the human body to treatment development. This has also taught me how expensive and difficult treating some conditions can be, motivating me to be part of the fundraising team for the Multiple Sclerosis community.

My most recent professional roles have been as mentor and student ambassador in university, where I have worked with staff to carry out informative school visits and activities, with students of different ages and backgrounds.

Outside of work and university, I volunteer with the Royal Air Force as part of the Connections for Life team, where I form friendships with veterans. I am also a dog mum! My family and I adopted our little dog, Miley, 11 years ago in the south of Spain – where we are originally from. Unfortunately, now she is mostly with my family in London but I love to go on strolls and runs with her when I go back home. In my free time I enjoy reading books of different genres, although lately I have inclined to classics – feel free to tell me your recommendations!

I am excited to be part of this beautiful community and I look forward to helping make the Centre an even more wonderful place than it already is!”

Welcome to the team Sheyla, it’s great to have you!
