Introducing the LiteGait which we are trialing in our gym
We have two new additions in our gym. One is an unweighing system called The LiteGait (we will tell you about the other one later!).
The LiteGait is a new piece of therapy equipment we have on loan at the Centre. It is an Unweighing System, meaning it reduces the amount of body weight people have whilst they walk either on the treadmill or on the ground.
Partial weight bearing, along with the help of the harness, is designed to help people with their balance and encourages them to walk without the fear of falling.
We have the equipment for a trial period of three months. We want to encourage people to try it and give feedback to the physiotherapy team.
The LiteGait system will be beneficial for people who are still on their feet, are using walking aids (such as sticks, crutches, safety walkers, rollators) and having significant balance issues.
If you have any questions or queries please speak to a member of the physiotherapy team.
Not currently attending physiotherapy but want to try? Contact the physiotherapy team on 0118 901 6000 or email mohamed@bmstc.org to arrange a half hour session on Wednesdays between 11am-12midday. It is essential that all appointments are booked in advance.
