“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.” Mark Twain
In recent years there has been a growing interest in the beneficial effects of mindfulness and how it can help you regulate your feelings. And at the Centre now we have a growing group of regular meditators who meet monthly to practice together. However, if you have not yet tried it, it might seem strange to think that just sitting still and calmly breathing could make a significant difference to the quality of your life.
A lot of our emotional problems when you really investigate them do not actually occur from life, they arise because of our way of thinking about life. I am not saying we do not have problems, just that, as Mark Twain once said:
“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened.”
And learning to develop the skill of being able to direct and hold your attention on the present moment seems to enable you to let go of the worries that will never happen to you! That way you can save your energy, so you are better able to deal with the ones that do.
If you would like to find out what all the hype is about or if you know and want to deepen your practice, sign up now for the next online course starting on May 18th. Over 6 weeks you will be guided through a simple routine containing many techniques to help you feel more mental and physically relaxed, happier, and energised. After the course, you will have access to ongoing support via the growing community of meditators at the centre who attend the monthly meetups.
