We’re pleased to announce the Centre will have some new windows and doors fitted soon.
In 2022, a company called Stantec surveyed our building to look at ways to reduce our operational energy usage. The reason for this was two-fold:
- To reduce the annual running costs of the Centre, making the charity more sustainable and allowing us to spend more funds on services rather than running costs.
- To reduce our ‘carbon footprint’ in response to the climate crisis. As an organisation we have taken other steps to be environmentally friendly including installing solar panels, inverter heating/cooling units and an oxygen generator.
Stantec is a global leader in sustainable engineering, architecture, and environmental consulting. We are very grateful to them for producing this survey free of charge for us.
Number one on their list was to replace our 25-year-old external doors and windows with UPVC and solar glass. We have successfully secured funding for the first phase of this project, which will include most of the downstairs windows and fire exits. This work will be carried out next week from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 August.
We will try to keep any disruption to a minimum and expect sessions to go ahead as normal.
We would like to thank our funders – The Rotary Club of Pangbourne, Greenham Trust and The Good Exchange, The Earley Charity and The Screwfix Foundation.
The physio gym doors and remaining windows and doors will be included in the second phase once funding is secured.
